What's everyone's dream sailing destination?

Let’s have some fun — if you could sail anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’ll start: Patagonia and the Chilean channels. The idea of sailing through those fjords with glaciers and mountains towering above you is something I think about all the time. Cold, remote, challenging — but the photos I’ve seen are otherworldly.

Close second: The Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia. The ultimate bluewater passage — 3,000nm from the Galapagos with nothing but ocean in between.

What about you all? Dreams and plans welcome!

Mine is the Northwest Passage. Probably unrealistic at my age and with my budget, but the combination of history, extreme conditions, and the sheer audacity of it appeals to me. I’ve read every account from Amundsen to the modern yacht passages and it never gets old.

More realistically: I’d love to do the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) across to the Caribbean at some point. It’s on the bucket list.

I’m still at the ‘dream about it’ stage rather than seriously planning, but Greece is top of my list. Island-hopping through the Cyclades, stopping at a different island every day, swimming in crystal clear water… basically what I’m doing here but with more islands!

Long-term dream: New Zealand. The sailing there looks absolutely incredible.

For me it’s the Caribbean. I’ve sailed the Mediterranean my whole life and I’d love to experience proper trade wind sailing — steady breeze, warm water, rum punch at sunset. My father sailed there in the 1980s and his stories still make me jealous.

But honestly? Mallorca is pretty hard to beat. I might just be biased though!

Scotland and Norway. I’m Swedish so I’m drawn to the north. The Scottish west coast and the Norwegian fjords in summer — long days, dramatic scenery, proper sailing conditions. None of this flat calm Mediterranean stuff!

Though I’d miss the warm water…

We both say Croatia as our next realistic destination. The sailing looks beautiful and it’s accessible from Mallorca. Long-term dream is to cross the Atlantic — maybe in 5-6 years if everything goes to plan with the boat purchase.

But first, we need to actually learn to sail properly!
