Went out for an evening sail yesterday and the sunset was absolutely incredible. The light on the cathedral as we sailed back into Palma was pure magic.
I’m no photographer but even with my phone it looked amazing. The bay was like glass and the sky turned every shade of orange and pink.
Does anyone else take photos while sailing? Would love to see your best shots from around Mallorca! Maybe we could do a photo of the month thing?
The Palma cathedral at sunset from the water is one of the most beautiful sights in the Mediterranean. I’ve seen it a thousand times and it still gets me. Great idea about the photo of the month — I’ve got a few I could share!
The light in the Balearics is something special — there’s a reason so many artists have been drawn here. I’ve been trying to capture the early morning light in Alcúdia Bay and it’s stunning. The mountains change colour with every hour of the day.

I love this idea! I’ve got some amazing sunrise photos from early morning charter departures — the light at 06:00 on a calm day is unreal.
My tip for phone photography from a boat: shoot loads and accept that 90% will be blurry. The motion of the boat makes sharp photos surprisingly difficult. The 10% that come out well will be worth it.
Sailing into Port de Sóller at sunrise is my favourite view in Mallorca. The mountains framing the harbour with the first light catching the stone buildings — it’s impossibly beautiful. I should take more photos but I always get too caught up in the sailing to remember the camera.
