Managed to grab a spot at Cala Deià yesterday evening. It’s a tight little anchorage and you need to be careful of the rocks on the approach, but the reward is spectacular. The light hitting the Tramuntana mountains at sunset is something else.

Top tip: get there before 5pm in summer or you won’t find space. And don’t try it if there’s any north in the swell — it becomes a washing machine.
That sounds beautiful! I haven’t been brave enough to try the Tramuntana coast yet on my own. Is it manageable for a relatively new sailor or would you recommend having someone experienced aboard?
Great spot. I’d add that the holding at Deià isn’t the best — lots of rock and posidonia. I usually use a trip line on the anchor there. And yes, absolutely avoid it with any northerly — I’ve seen boats dragging there when the swell picks up. Sa Calobra is another stunner along that coast if you haven’t tried it.
Gorgeous! I took a charter group there last month and they were blown away. The key is checking the Windguru forecast for Sóller — if it’s calm there, Deià should be fine. We usually anchor and take the tender to the little pebble beach for a swim.
