Hey all! I’m Sophie, a British expat living in Palma for the last two years. I just finished my RYA Day Skipper with MSA last month and honestly it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I work remotely in marketing so I’ve got pretty flexible hours, which means lots of time on the water (in theory!).
I’m looking forward to getting to know other sailors here. Still very much a learner — my berthing could use some work, let’s just say that — but I’m keen to get out there as much as possible this season.

Welcome Sophie! Congratulations on the Day Skipper. Don’t worry about the berthing — everyone struggles with that at first. I’ve been sailing out of Palma for 20 years and I still have the odd bad day coming alongside. If you ever need a hand or want to practise, happy to help. The more sailors in Palma the better!
Congratulations and welcome! The Day Skipper is a fantastic foundation. My advice: get out there in as many different conditions as you can this summer. The Tramuntana coast is a great classroom — you’ll learn more in one windy day up there than a week of calm sailing. Fair winds!
