Hello everyone! We’re Tom and Lisa, a couple from Hampshire who’ve just made the big move to Mallorca. We caught the sailing bug a few years ago doing a Competent Crew course in the Solent and now we’re here full-time and planning to do our Coastal Skipper with MSA.
We’re also in the early stages of looking at buying a boat — something in the 35-40ft range that we could eventually live on. Terrifying and exciting in equal measure!

Welcome to Mallorca! The 35-40ft range is a sweet spot for a couple. If you’re thinking of buying here, come and have a chat. There are a few things to watch out for with boats that have been in the Med for a long time — I can save you some headaches. Also, the brokers in Palma are generally good but it helps to know what to look for.
Welcome! The Coastal Skipper is a great next step. My advice: before you buy, charter a few different types of boat. A catamaran sailor and a monohull sailor are almost different species. Better to find out which you are before you commit!
